Art and science responses to Gordon Young’s ‘Fish Trail’ in Hull.

A new project highlighting the importance and wonder of sea life and the sea.

There are 41 ‘fish’ on the trail and 56 creative responses – these are presented alongside marine science information about each species. We hope you enjoy it all and find it meaningful.

‘The Critical Fish’ are excited to showcase new art and writing alongside research into sea life species. Our starting point is Gordon Young’s much loved Fish Trail round Hull - as inspiration for new creative work and critical enquiry.

Simply we wondered how each ‘fish’ is doing – are they threatened, thriving, or endangered?
