Zander (a).

Zander

Zander, predator of the waterways

Carnivorous, nocturnal, intimidating

Swimming in shallow waters

Ready to chase smaller shoals of fish

With his long muscular body

A deep forest green

A creamy off- white

With long tall spikes above his head

Two large front teeth

Big, deep, strong opaque eyes

Staring you out

What a menacing sight to behold

Often found in canals

Resting in the shade during the day

But come night time lies in wait

In dark and dismal waters

With strong, sharp night vision

And even sharper teeth

Ready to rip his prey to shreds

The God of the waterways

A Collection of Zanders is a series of responses to my given fish, which can be found at the top of Whitefriargate and is the final fish on the trail. My starting point was to visit the place where the Zander plaque is and take photos. I decided to produce some drawings, and tracings from source images online. I then photographed or scanned these images. The next step was adding filters and effects in Photoshop. I also wanted to produce a textile piece and try something with mixed media too. I wanted to experiment with different mediums. Finally I decided to write a poem!
