Ocean themes panel and discussion

Join us at The Deep for an afternoon of papers and discussion and an opportunity to explore the ecological, historical, and cultural issues raised by the project in more depth.

Confirmed speakers include

Kuhu Kopariha (see Kuhu’s essay Community Portraits: Ecological stories, struggles and sorrow in artist Carolina Caycedo’s ‘Cosmotarrayas’)

Richard Howitt (see Richard’s The Sea-Change Our Fish Need)

Jo Byrne (see Following Fish and Fighting for Cod)

Cally Nurse (Crab) - the velvet swimming crab and seaweed

Beth Lettington (Eel) - the eel in language and literature

and Martha Cattell (Crab) and Vickie Bissett will respond to ‘What can artists do?’ (In the face of climate crisis) followed by an open discussion

This is a free event and everyone is welcome

To access the event - we will meet at the gallery and walk across to the Deep at 11am - so that we can all enter together through the main entrance together. If you are going straight to The Deep then access will be through a side door - not the main entrance. Look out for the HEY volunteers in sky blue jackets who will direct you
